Ex-Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes posts update after being knocked unconscious in sickening collision

Former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes has posted an update after being knocked unconscious in a Ligue 1 game.
The Lille star collided with Reims defender Amadou Kone in the air and appear to suffer a sickening head injury, leaving him on the ground.
TV footage appeared to show the 23-year-old unconscious.
Kone was sent off for the incident, whilst Gomes went on to receive treatment for the next 20 minutes.
Lille's players formed a circle around the ex-Man United starlet as he was attended to.
He was eventually stretchered off and taken to hospital.

A total of 34 minutes were added to the game when it resumed at 0-0.
In a post on X after the game, Lille wrote: "We can confirm that Angel Gomes has regained consciousness and has been transferred to hospital.
"All our thoughts are turned towards him."
Bafode Diakite went on to net a winner for Lille deep into the lengthy added time in the first half.

He lifted Gomes' shirt towards the TV cameras as he celebrated, with Lille sealing a 1-0 victory in the end.
Posting an update on Sunday, Gomes said: "Thank you all for the support, means the world to me! Look forward to recovering and getting back out there. Love and blessings to all!"
Speaking after the game, manager Bruno Genesio said: "The latest news is rather reassuring, but it's better to be careful.
"Angel asked if he was going to play [next] Saturday. It's a good sign if he has a sense of humour. The match was secondary for me tonight.
"Angel was conscious when he was carried out. I know he spoke, he asked about the result, he showed he's in good spirits, but I think we have to wait a bit."
Gomes has now been with Lille for four seasons since his departure from Man United.
The midfielder joined Man United's youth system at the age of six and made his debut for the club's Under-18 team when he was 14.
His senior debut came in 2017, replacing Wayne Rooney in a 2–0 home win over Crystal Palace.
Gomes final season saw him play just six times in all competitions as he struggled to break into the first XI.
He was released at the age of the 2019/20 season.
Gomes has gone on to make 116 appearances for Lille, netting eight goals and bagging 18 assists.
